Ursula von der Leyen: "Borders cannot be changed by force."

At President Zelensky's request, I will attend the meeting with Trump at the White House tomorrow. With a post on X at midday, Ursula von der Leyen dispelled any doubts. Tomorrow, the President of the Commission, the Secretary General of NATO, and a delegation of European leaders will be in Washington, including Giorgio Melu, who is officially becoming more and more learned as the hours pass.
In the same post, von der Leyen announced the Ukrainian President's arrival in the city in the early afternoon. As he did last Wednesday, when he flew to Berlin, symbolically seated next to Mertz at the video conference with Trump, today Zelensky is stopping in Brussels to discuss with the coalition of the willing co-chairing the Washington summit, alongside von der Leyen. Before the meeting in person at the Berlemont Palace, the press briefing included the opportunity for the Commission President to reiterate that borders cannot be changed by force.
These are decisions, he explains, that must be made with Ukraine at the table, adding, "We will strengthen sanctions against Russia in the name of a just peace." To achieve lasting peace, Zelensky replies, the right steps must be taken. We need the United States on our side, but European unity is essential, the same unity as in 2022.
